Canada Post

Canada Post Corporation, known more simply as Canada Post, is the Canadian crown corporation which functions as the country's primary postal operator. The Post Office Department of the Government of Canada was founded in 1867 and was rebranded Canada Post in the late 1960s though it officially remained the Post Office Department until October 16, 1981, when the Canada Post Corporation Act came into force. The act purported to set a new direction for the postal service, aiming to create a more reliable service and to ensure the postal service's financial security and independence.

Every business day, Canada Post provides service to 14.8 million addresses, delivering 45 million items. Delivery takes place via traditional "to the door" service by 15,000 letter carriers, supplemented by a 7,000 vehicle fleet in rural and suburban areas, and truck delivery of parcels. There are 6,500 post offices across the country, a combination of corporate offices and delearships that are operated by private retailers in conjunction with a host retail business, such as a drugstore. In terms of area serviced, Canada Post delivers to a larger area than the postal service of any other nation, including Russia (where service in Siberia is limited largely to communities along the railway). Store Signage

Street Photography can be exciting. You never know what's ahead or what discovery you will make. While walking during the Toronto Ice Festival last Feb. 25, 2012 I saw this very attractive signage.

Portrait Of A Photographer

Photographers seldom appear on the pictures they take. I believe that it is considered vain for one to be a photographer and the subject of the photo at the same time. The former captures the moment for the model and should always stay behind the camera. On rare occasions and without them knowing it, they become part of the subject when they pictures of reflection.

The Muppet Show

The Muppet Show was one of my favorite TV shows in the late 70's. And boy could you imagine! I was watching the show on a black and white television.

Canadian Toque

In Canada, toque, or tuque ('tuːk), is the common name for a knit winter hat. The Canadian English term was assimilated from Canadian French tuque. Toque first appeared in writing around 1870.

The fashion is said to have originated with the coureurs de bois, French and Métis fur traders, who kept their woollen nightcaps on for warmth during cold winter days. Such hats are known in other English-speaking countries by a variety of names, including beanie (American), watch cap or stocking cap; the terms tuque and toque are unique to Canada and northern areas of the United States, close to the Canadian border.
